Parks Commission Meeting 9-11-02 <br />Minutes <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Meeting <br />September 11, 2002 <br />6:30 p.m. <br />Oneka Room — City Hall <br />Meeting Chair: Robyn LaCasse <br />Minutes By: Laurie McRostie <br />Present: Kitty Cheesebrow, Robyn LaCasse, Pete Pedersen, Bunny Peterson, David Strub, Bronwen <br />Kleissler, Chuck Haas, John Rask, Laurie McRostie. <br />Absent: Jennifer May, Tom Weidt <br />Copies To: Commission Members, Michele Lindau- Community Development Assistant, John Rask - <br />Community Development Director, Mike Ericson - City Administrator <br />I. Sunset Lake <br />A. A resident has asked that the public access to the lake be reopened. <br />B. His demand is that people are trespassing on his property. <br />C. The commission discussed this matter and no change will be made to the public access. The access <br />location has not improved in a year and the reason the access was closed is still valid. There is no room <br />at the site to provide parking or to create a more stable, permanent access. <br />II. Oneka Lake <br />A. Kitty Cheesebrow is working on the aeration and fish stocking issues. She will report to the <br />commission as soon as she has some information. <br />III. Rice Lake Park <br />A. Rice Lake Park is still being considered as a public works site <br />B. The Park Commission would like to keep this area as parkland. They will work with the City Council <br />to discuss options for Rice Lake Park. <br />C. Any design for the site should include options for the future, including park facilities, park maintenance <br />and park offices as well as the potential for public works. <br />IV. Beaver Ponds <br />A. Seeding the soccer field was discussed. <br />B. Tony Kolnik, from the White Bear Lake Soccer Association, had contacted Chris Petree and seeding <br />was set up. At the time of the meeting the seeding had not happened. <br />C. The City will need to install a satellite at Beaver Ponds Park by next spring. <br />V. Old School House <br />A. The roof on the school house was patched <br />B. Hugo needs to coordinate with the County on the site and consider a grant application for a possible <br />trailhead facility. <br />VI.
