Parks Commission Meeting 9-10-03 <br />Minutes <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Meeting <br />September 10, 2003 <br />6:30 p.m. <br />Oneka Room — City Hall <br />Meeting Chair: Robyn LaCasse <br />Minutes By: John Rask <br />Present: Kitty Cheesebrow, Pete Pederson, Robyn LaCasse, David Strub, John Rask, Tom Weidt, and <br />Jennifer May <br />Absent: None <br />Copies To: Commission Members, Michele Lindau- Community Development Assistant, John Rask - <br />Community Development Director, Mike Ericson - City Administrator, Chris Petree, Public <br />Works Director <br />Fast Pitch Softball Fields <br />Robyn LaCasse and John Rask updated the Commission on a request by Larry Parker from the <br />Fast Pitch Softball Association regarding their desire to assist in the construction of softball <br />diamonds in the City. Specifically, the Association would provide funds and volunteer labor for the <br />construction of fields in a future park. Additionally, the Association requested City permission to <br />dedicate future pull tab revenues to the construction of fields in Hugo. Upon review, the <br />Commission voted to accept the Association request for dedication of funds and found that it would <br />be in the City's best interest to continue to work with the Association in search of property for future <br />fields. <br />Oneka Ponds Park Improvements <br />John Rask updated the Commission on the grading work being completed in the Oneka Ponds <br />Park, and recommended that the Commission consider contracting with Laurie McRostie to assist <br />in the master planning of the Oneka Ponds Park and the adjacent Bernin property. After <br />discussing the agenda item, the Commission voted to contract with Laurie to complete a site plan <br />for the two properties. <br />III. Discussion of Future Trail Connections <br />Robyn LaCasse updated the Commission on recent discussions with the developers of Victor <br />Gardens to make a connection to the existing trail in Lino Lakes. Robyn informed the Commission <br />that the developer agreed to the connection and that it was under construction.
