Review & Discuss Park Signage <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided signs and samples from two different vendors for park <br />signage. The Park Commission then reviewed and discussed the different materials used in park <br />sign construction and selected a cost effective and low maintenance option for park signage. <br />Weidt made a motion, Keithahn seconded, to select Weigel Signs to construct the new park signs <br />out of aluminum clad MDO plywood with reflective graphics and use aluminum or steel posts with <br />caps. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />V. Discuss Lion's Park Master Plan & Feasibility Study <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree shared the decision that the City Council made regarding the <br />master plan and feasibility study for Lion's Park. The City Council felt that it was premature to do <br />this work now and there are still too many variables to complete this work. Petree showed the Park <br />Commission the video from the City Council meeting so the Park Commission could understand the <br />opinions of the council members. <br />VI. Park Fund Committee Update <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an update to the Park Commission and informed them <br />that the committee meetings would continue once the City Council adopts the fee schedule for 2005. <br />VII. Select Grant Writing Committee <br />Park Commissioners Clarke, Keithahn and Cheesebrow all volunteered to serve on a grant writing <br />committee with Public Works Director Chris Petree. This committee will apply for the DNR <br />Outdoor Recreation Grant and the DNR Local Trail Connection Grant in the spring of 2005. <br />VIII. Discuss Youth Sports in Hugo <br />Park Commissioners discussed an email from a resident that was sent to Chairperson Cheesebrow <br />related to youth recreation activities in Hugo. Chairperson Cheesebrow will respond to this email <br />and invite this resident to participate in the monthly recreation programming meetings held with the <br />White Bear Lake School District. <br />IX. Updates <br />A. Planning Commission -None. <br />B. City Council -None. <br />C. Kitty Cheesebrow — Provided an article to Park Commission members on a new dog park in <br />White Bear Township. She will contact WBT and find out more information about the park for <br />the next meeting. Also informed Park Commission members that the Park Master Plan update <br />committee feels that the Plan needs such extensive revision in the face of Hugo's changing <br />demographics, that it is necessary to hire a consulting firm to assist with the project. Will try to <br />bring a consultant on board in the spring of 2005. <br />D. Chris Petree-None. <br />X. Other: Park Commissioner Clarke provided a brief update on the Rural & Open Space <br />Committee and the work that has been completed to update the ordinance. <br />LOCATION — CITY HALL <br />
