Minutes <br />Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Meeting <br />March 9, 2005 <br />7:00 p.m. <br />Council Chambers — City Hall <br />Meeting Chair: Kitty Cheesebrow <br />Minutes By: Chris Petree <br />Present: Parks Commission: Kitty Cheesebrow, Jennifer May, Roger Clarke and Tom Weidt. <br />Planning Commission: Kelly Bailly. <br />Staff Chris Petree, Public Works Director. <br />Absent: Pete Pedersen and Steven Lacher. <br />I. Approve Minutes February 9, 2005 Meeting <br />Weidt made a motion, May seconded, to accept the Minutes from the February 9, 2005 Park <br />Commission Meeting. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />II. Name Selection for Creekview Preserve Neighborhood Park <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Parks Commission with a list of the 12 different names <br />that were nominated for this park. Petree also read a letter that explained one of the name nominations, <br />Frog Hollow Park. It was also noted that 25% of the name nominations referenced frogs in someway. <br />The Parks Commission discussed the names nominated and selected Frog Hollow Park as submitted by <br />neighborhood resident Allen Bower. The City and Parks Commission will recognize Mr. Bower's name <br />nomination with a certificate of appreciation and a Historical Commission Commemorative mug. <br />Weidt made a motion, Clarke seconded, to select Frog Hollow Park for the name of the neighborhood <br />park in the Creekview Preserve development. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />III. Appointment of Tom Weidt to Planning Commission <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree and Parks Commission Chair Kitty Cheesebrow recognized Tom <br />Weidt for his four years of service to the Parks Commission and congratulated him on his appointment <br />to the Planning Commission. <br />IV. Parks Commission Vacancies & Appointments <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree announced the two vacancies on the Parks Commission and <br />informed the Commission of the City advertising to fill these vacancies. Parks Commissioner Jennifer <br />May announced her desire to continue to serve on the Parks Commission for another term and will <br />submit a letter of intent to the City Council for the March 21, 2005 meeting. <br />Page 1 <br />
