Approve Park Sign Planting Specification <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an overview of the park sign planting specification <br />as prepared by Landscape Architect Laurie McRostie. Staff sought approval of the park sign <br />planting specification. <br />May made a motion, Gabrielli seconded, to approve the Park Sign Planting Specification as <br />presented. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />V. Land Acquisition/Park Planning — Review Park & Trail Map <br />The Parks Commission reviewed an updated Park & Trail map to identify current <br />neighborhoods in the city that have no access to neighborhood parks and to discuss future <br />park sites and goals for 2006. These items will continue to be discussed at upcoming <br />meetings. <br />VI. Diamond Point East/DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant Results <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that the City of Hugo was <br />not awarded an MNDNR Outdoor Recreation Grant this year for the park in Diamond Point <br />East. City staff has continued to meet with the developer of Diamond Point East to develop a <br />plan for constructing this park. Staff will continue to work with the developer and report back <br />to the Parks Commission later this fall. <br />VII. Oakshore Park Update <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that City staff continues to <br />work with the residents of Oakshore Park to acquire the parkland in that development. In <br />return for the land the City of Hugo would construct certain road improvements within the <br />development. <br />VIII. Hugo Baseball Association — Resident Inquiry <br />Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks Commission that a resident had <br />spoken with him and City Administrator Mike Ericson about starting a baseball association in <br />Hugo in 2006. This resident has since stated that he would not be starting the association in <br />2006. However, he did ask that the Parks Commission continue to consider future baseball <br />programming needs and facilities. <br />IX. Other <br />Hugo Elementary Hockey Rink: Public Works Director Chris Petree informed the Parks <br />Commission that White Bear School District officials have decided to keep the hockey rink and <br />warminghouse at the existing location and not demolish it. City Staff has been contacted by <br />volunteers that maintain the rink and warminghouse, asking for support to improve the <br />conditions of the rink and warminghouse. <br />Gabrielli made a motion, Pedersen seconded, to provide support to the school district and <br />volunteers to improve the condition of the rink and warminghouse at Hugo Elementary. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />105 Acre Park: Parks Commissioner Roger Clarke provided an overview of his work to date <br />identifying potential trail locations on the site. Parks Commissioner Clarke received the <br />endorsement of the Parks Commission to have a trail specialist from the MNDNR review the <br />proposed trail alignment with him to see if there were any conflicts with the proposed <br />alignment. <br />
