Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Minutes February 13, 2008 <br />IV. NE Metro YMCA Community Partnership <br />Parks Commissioner Taylor recapped the meeting held on January 24th. Feasibility study, <br />population size and citizen request will help determine if new property will be utilized or <br />rebuilding on the existing land (currently used by the YMCA in White Bear Lake) can be done. <br />Discussions are still open on operating and construction costs, the YMCA has proposed <br />interest on an operation contract to help alleviate the expense and staffing to the City the <br />project would reside in. <br />V. Oneka Gymnasium Programming <br />Turn out is exceeding initial expectations. Suggestions were made to do additional programs, <br />utilize other local space for activities and to do some flyer card advertising to inform awareness <br />of the events offered to the community. <br />VI. Other <br />While discussing Oneka Gymnasium programs, Petree informed the committee that many <br />residents have brought to his attention that they want to have a Hugo recreation program. <br />Currently White Bear Lake handles 70-80% of Hugo programs. Costs, staffing, facilities, <br />program involvement are things that need to be considered. The City of Hugo will continue to <br />discuss the options. <br />Adjournment <br />Berger made a motion, Taylor seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 p.m. <br />All Aye.
