Minutes <br />City of Hugo <br />Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />April 14, 2010 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />Call to Order <br />Jim Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />Present: Rachel Berger, Kris Birch, Roger Clarke, Dave Strub, Mat Rauschendorfer, <br />Jim Taylor, Noel Schmidt, Tom Windisch <br />Absent: Derek Larsen <br />Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director <br />Shayla Syverson, Economic Development/Parks Intern <br />Debi Close, Parks Secretary <br />I. Approval of Minutes of March 10, 2010 <br />Berger made a motion, Rauschendorfer seconded to approve the minutes of the March <br />10, 2010 Parks Commission meeting. <br />All Ayes. Motion Carried. <br />II. Discussion on Park Planner Position <br />Bryan Bear, Community Development Director gave a presentation to the commission <br />on a Park Planner position being created to assist with recent recreational programming. <br />With the City wide survey responses and new community events being successful, this <br />position will continue with the growth and needs of the community. Also incorporating <br />facilities, parks, soccer fields, Oneka gym time, neighborhood meetings, improvements, <br />policy updates and support to the Parks Commission with many additional functions to <br />encompass the goals set by the Parks commission. Over exceeding these goals and <br />increasing opportunities if the position is approved is expected. <br />Ron Otkin, Finance Manager provided copies of the Special Parks Fund projected <br />budgeting expense sheet. He presented and discussed the Parks Levy, current funds <br />that have been allocated and options of absorbing the costs for this position. <br />
