HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
NOVEMBER 10 2005
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.
PRESENT: Brunotte, Schumann
ABSENT: Puleo
ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director (CDD)

Minutes of September 8, 2005
Schumann made motion, Brunotte seconded, to recommend approval of the minutes of September 8,
2005 as submitted.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Variance for Donald and Sheri Schoeller for an Oversized Garage
The Board considered the request of Donald and Sheri Schoeller, 12329 126th Street North, for a
variance to exceed the maximum size of permitted garage space. The property consisted of 1.12
acres and was located in the Large Lot Single Family Zoning District where the zoning
ordinance limited the size of a garage to 1,000 square feet. In addition, the zoning ordinance
permitted an 870 square foot accessory structure on lots over one acre in the R-1 Zoning District.
The applicant requested approval of a variance to permit a 1,456 square foot garage on their
property. The applicant wanted to construct a 572 square foot addition to the existing 884 square
foot garage. A 120 square foot shed also existed on the property. The combined square footage
of the garage, addition, and shed would be 1,576 square feet.
Schumann opened the public hearing. There were no comments and Schumann closed the public
hearing.
The Commission reviewed the variance and had no objections to it.
Brunotte made motion, Schumann seconded to recommend approval of the variance for 12329 126'
Street North.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
