MINUTES <br />HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS <br />JANUARY 9, 2003 <br />Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Puleo, Schumann <br />ABSENT: Brunotte <br />ALSO PRESENT: John Rask, Community Development Director <br />Michele Lindau, Secretary <br />Minutes of December 12, 2002 <br />Puleo made motion, Schumann seconded, to approve the minutes for December <br />12, 2002 as amended. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Maloney Variance for Pole Building <br />The Board considered the application of Joe Maloney, 17270 Henna Avenue <br />North, for a variance to permit a 20 -foot side yard setback for the construction of a <br />1,440 square foot pole building on his property. The property is 7.5 acres and <br />located in the Future Urban Service zoning district where a 40 -foot building <br />setback is required. <br />The home was constructed 73 feet from the side property line in 1992. At that time, <br />the side yard setback was 20 feet. In July of 1999, the City increased the side yard <br />setback from 20 feet to 40 feet. Staff found that the hardship was not caused by the <br />landowner but rather a change in the setback requirement. <br />Other than the applicant, there was no one at the meeting that spoke on the <br />request. <br />Puleo made motion, Schumann seconded, to recommend approval of a variance <br />for 17270 Henna Avenue north. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />
