MINUTES <br />HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS <br />JULY 28, 2005 <br />Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Puleo, Schumann <br />ABSENT: Brunotte <br />ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director (CDD) <br />Michele Lindau, Community Development Assistant <br />Minutes July 14, 2005 <br />Puleo made motion, Schumann seconded, to recommend approval of the minutes of July 14, 2005 as <br />submitted. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Variance for a Garage at 6651 145th Circle North (Murphy) <br />The Board considered the request of Mark Murphy and Heidi Fessler, 6651 145th Circle North, <br />for two variances to construct a detached garage on their property. The applicant was requesting <br />to construct a 1,257 square foot garage where ordinance limits the size of a garage to 1,000 <br />square feet and to locate the structure in front of the home where ordinance requires accessory <br />structures to be located further from the road than the principal structure. <br />The Board considered similar variances at the July 14, 2005 Board meeting. The applicant had <br />withdrawn the original application and submitted a revised survey and application for a property <br />line adjustment to move the property line to the west, which is an outlot of the development and <br />owned by the developer. The property line adjustment would allow the building to be moved <br />further to the west so the garage would not be directly in front the home but would still be closer <br />to the road than the home. The property line adjustment would eliminate the need of a variance <br />for the side yard setback that was part of the original application. <br />Schumann opened the public hearing. Other than the applicant, there was no one present who <br />wished to speak on the request. Schumann closed the public hearing. <br />Schumann asked the applicant if he intended to remove or rebuild the house. Murphy said he <br />had no intention of removing the house but would be remodeling it. <br />Puleo asked the applicant what he would be doing to screen the garage from the road. Murphy <br />showed where he would be planting trees on the west side and landscaping in the front. <br />
