MINUTES HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS JULY 28, 2005 Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. PRESENT: Puleo, Schumann ABSENT: Brunotte ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director (CDD) Michele Lindau, Community Development Assistant Minutes July 14, 2005 Puleo made motion, Schumann seconded, to recommend approval of the minutes of July 14, 2005 as submitted. All Ayes. Motion carried. Variance for a Garage at 6651 145th Circle North (Murphy) The Board considered the request of Mark Murphy and Heidi Fessler, 6651 145th Circle North, for two variances to construct a detached garage on their property. The applicant was requesting to construct a 1,257 square foot garage where ordinance limits the size of a garage to 1,000 square feet and to locate the structure in front of the home where ordinance requires accessory structures to be located further from the road than the principal structure. The Board considered similar variances at the July 14, 2005 Board meeting. The applicant had withdrawn the original application and submitted a revised survey and application for a property line adjustment to move the property line to the west, which is an outlot of the development and owned by the developer. The property line adjustment would allow the building to be moved further to the west so the garage would not be directly in front the home but would still be closer to the road than the home. The property line adjustment would eliminate the need of a variance for the side yard setback that was part of the original application. Schumann opened the public hearing. Other than the applicant, there was no one present who wished to speak on the request. Schumann closed the public hearing. Schumann asked the applicant if he intended to remove or rebuild the house. Murphy said he had no intention of removing the house but would be remodeling it. Puleo asked the applicant what he would be doing to screen the garage from the road. Murphy showed where he would be planting trees on the west side and landscaping in the front.
