Washington County Goals <br />County Board does not take a single action at the beginning of the year to adopt a set of goals. <br />They do have a strategic plan in place that outlines goals and strategies for the county and they <br />also use a series of workshops and retreats with the board typically in late winter or early spring <br />to get additional direction from the Board on goals and items to work on in 2016. <br />Deputy County Administrator Kevin Corbid has forwarded a list of some of the goals, projects <br />and items on the county's plate for 2016. <br />• Implementation of the county's largest public works capital program in its history <br />o Some of the projects are the County Road 21 project in Afton, the Gateway <br />Corridor BRT project, Regional Park projects in Lake Elmo Regional Park and <br />Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park as well as many other projects listed in our <br />2016 Capital Improvement Plan. <br />• Implementation of the county's strategic library plan, including the revision of the <br />systems mission, adoption of the strategic plan, and creation of a facilities plan <br />• Continue to plan to meet the needs of a diversifying, growing, and aging county <br />population. <br />• Implement the recommendations in the county's currently completed internal and <br />external communications plan <br />• Carryout the first year of operating the Ramsey/Washington garbage processing center <br />• Replace the jail security system <br />• Continue implementation of the county's economic development strategic plan through <br />the addition of economic development authority powers to our existing Housing and <br />Redevelopment Authority (HRA) and renaming the HRA as the Community <br />Development Agency (CDA) <br />• Administration of the 2016 Presidential, State and local elections <br />
