At its April 15, 2013 meeting, Council listened to a presentation on immigrant farming in Hugo
by Becky Balk, Department of Agricultural; Susan Stokes, Farmers' Legal Action Group; and
Pakou Hang, Hmong America Farmers Association. Council directed staff to work as a
convener on an open house to connect farmers with landowners who may be interested in leasing
their land. The open house provided an opportunity for landowners to learn more about the
program.
