Ray Novakovic had left his residence to go for a walk and had not been seen
since. A significant search effort was led by the Washington County Sheriff's Department. The
search ended after Mr. Novakovic's body was discovered on July 28th, 2013. Sheriff Bill Hutton
provided the Council with a review of the search efforts that included many different agencies
including area fire departments, police departments, volunteer mounted patrols, water patrol
searches, and the Hugo Public Works Department. Press releases, Code Red alerts, and other
forms of social media including websites and FaceBook were used to get the word out to the
public. The search concluded with the body being found by individual volunteers who organized
and performed specific searches. The Sheriff and Council thank the many volunteers who
assisted in bringing this to a close.
