MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON AUGUST 5, 2013 Mayor Weidt called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. PRESENT: Bronk, Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt ABSENT: None ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Assistant City Attorney Josh Brekken, City Engineer Jay Kennedy, Finance Director Ron Otkin, City Planner Rachel Juba, and City Clerk Michele Lindau Approval of Minutes for the July 15, 2013 City Council Meeting Klein made motion, Bronk seconded, to approve the Minutes for the July 15, 2013 City Council meeting, as presented. All Ayes. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes for the July 16, 2013 Water Resource Forum Petryk made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the Minutes for the Water Resource Forum on July 16, 2013, as presented All Ayes. Motion carried. Approval of the Agenda Weidt made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the agenda as presented. All Ayes. Motion carried. Recap of Ray Novakovic Search Effort On July 21, 2013, the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a missing 75 year old male. Ray Novakovic had left his residence to go for a walk and had not been seen since. A significant search effort was led by the Washington County Sheriff's Department. The search ended after Mr. Novakovic's body was discovered on July 28th, 2013. Sheriff Bill Hutton provided the Council with a review of the search efforts that included many different agencies including area fire departments, police departments, volunteer mounted patrols, water patrol searches, and the Hugo Public Works Department. Press releases, Code Red alerts, and other forms of social media including websites and FaceBook were used to get the word out to the public. The search concluded with the body being found by individual volunteers who organized and performed specific searches. The Sheriff and Council thank the many volunteers who assisted in bringing this to a close.
