TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2013

Mayor Weidt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Weidt, Council Members Bronk, Haas, Klein, Petryk
CITY STAFF PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Finance Director Ron Otkin, City
Clerk Michele Lindau
FIREFIGHTERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Kevin Colvard, Deputy Chief Jim Compton Jr.,
Assistant Chief Marry Schwartz, Training Captain Andy Churchill, Chief Engineer Roland
Guareschi, Training Lieutenant Kevin Kriegshauser, Safety Lieutenant Bob Bieniek, Lieutenant
Team Lead Jim Roettger, David Jensen
UNABLE TO ATTEND: Safety Captain/Fire Marshall Jim Fordham
Fire Chief Kevin Colvard provided updates from the September 29, 2011 Fire Department
Workshop. The officers talked about recruitment and retention of firefighters, what worked and
what did not.
Much of the discussion centered on the Basic Life Support (BLS) joint powers agreement with
the White Bear Lake Fire Department and whether this was still a good fit for the City. The Fire
Department Officers and City Council concluded that more information was needed. Another
joint meeting will be held in November to discuss options in more detail.
Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to adjourn at 9:32 p.m.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
