TAB DISCUSSION
MONDAY, MARCH 5, 2012
PRESENT: Council Members Chuck Haas, Phil Klein, Becky Petryk, and Mayor Fran Miron
ABSENT: Tom Weidt
ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, City Engineer Jay Kennedy, TAB Chairman
Bill Hargis and TAB Coordinator Kevin Roggenbuck
The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m. in the Conference Room at Hugo City Hall.
Hargis explained the basic functions of the TAB and described the process
• Thirty-three members
• Distribute $90 million in federal transportation dollars each year
• TAB is a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
o MPOs are required by federal government to distribute federal money
• Transit Improvement Plan (TIP) is adopted each year to spend $400 million
• Twenty-five percent ($90 million) is through the regional solicitation
o Hardwood Creek Trail Project
o Highway 61 Expansion
There was further discussion on the allocation of funds and regional transportation policy,
including the ten categories of funding with each having a scoring committee of 7-8 people.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
