LAND USE WORKSHOP
THURSDAY, JUNE 9, 2011 at 7:00 P.M.

Action Mayor Becky Petryk called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
PRESENT: Council Members Chuck Haas, Tom Weidt, Phil Klein and Becky Petryk
ABSENT: Mayor Fran Miron
ALSO PRESENT: Community Development Director, Bryan Bear and Planner, Rachel Juba
The Hugo City Council and Hugo Planning Commission held a joint workshop on land use.
Attorney Jed Burket from the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) explained
that land use claims are the most costly claims filed. The purpose of this workshop was to
provide training to help the City make decisions on land use applications that will avoid this type
of litigation. Attorney Jed Burket led the Council and Planning Commission through a
PowerPoint presentation and answered land use related questions.
Klein made a motion, seconded by Weidt, to adjourn the workshop.
