Interviews for Planning Commission, Parks Commission, and Board of Zoning
Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
PRESENT: Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt (arrived aproximately7:30), Miron
ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Planning Commissioner Chair Rick
Gwynn, Parks Commission Chair Jim Taylor, City Planner Rachel Juba, and City Clerk
Michele Lindau
The purpose of the meeting was to interview applicants for vacancies on the Parks
Commission, Planning Commission, and the Board of Zoning. City Administrator Bryan
Bear introduced the candidates and explained the process. Interviewed were Joan
Benner, Josiah Neuman, Chantell Knauss, and Christian Boland.
The Council discussed the Parks Commission in respect to having a member on the
Commission that was not a Hugo resident. Council felt it was important that commission
members be Hugo residents as required by City ordinance; however, it was also
important to have representatives of the school districts to act as liaisons to the Parks
Commission. Also discussed was the importance of having Josiah Neuman participate in
discussions with the Irish Avenue Park Committee.
The Council also discussed the reappointments and new appointments of the Planning
Commissions and Board of Zoning Adjustments. After discussion, Council agreed that
all candidates were very qualified. This item will be added to the agenda for the next
regularly scheduled Council meeting on December 19, 2011 for formal appointment to
the Parks Commission, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Adjustment.
Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to adjourn at 8:55 p.m.
