MEETING MINUTES
Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m.
Present: Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt, Miron
Others present: City Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director Bryan
Bear, Fire Chief Jim Compton, Long -Term Recovery Services Committee Chair Jim Gondek,
Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton, Senator Ray Vandeveer, Washington County
Commissioner Dennis Hegberg, and other City staff
A press conference was held in observance of the May 25, 2008 Tornado Disaster nearly one
year ago. Mayor Fran Miron addressed the media which included members of the television,
radio and newspaper mediums. Fran shared with the media a PowerPoint Presentation which
provided a recap of the tornado disaster and hail storm on May 25, 2008 and the subsequent
cleanup, recovery and rebuilding efforts. The Mayor invited Jerry and Kristina Prindle to the
podium to share their story and loss of their son Nate.
Long Term Recovery Services Committee chair Jim Gondek shared with the media the work of
the Committee for the past eleven months in dispersing the $480,000 of donated funds. There
were a number of questions asked by the media which were answered by the panelists. Mayor
Miron concluded by stating that residents are encouraged to adjourn to the Oneka Room for
coffee and cookies and to offer their comments and stories to the media as they may feel
comfortable with.
A community volunteer appreciation ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 7 at 3:00 p.m. at
Lions Park as part of Good Neighbor Days. The public is encouraged to attend.
