BEYOND THE YELLOW RIBBON TRAINING EVENT
JUNE 229 2009 AT 7:00 P.M.
HUGO CITY HALL
Present: Haas, Klein, Petryk, Weidt
Absent: Miron
Others present: City Administrator Mike Ericson, National Guard
At its May 18, 2009, the Hugo City Council adopted a resolution supporting the Yellow Ribbon
Network of Washington County. The Yellow Ribbon Network is a way for schools, local units
of government, law enforcement, social services and volunteer organizations to be more
responsive to the special needs of military families during deployment.
Councilmember Chuck Hass was instrumental in organizing this workshop which was attended
by approximately 30 residents and community leaders. The National Guard was present to talk
about programs to train and raise awareness of staff, communities, and organizations. The group
broke into four subcommittees to discuss issues in more depth. This organized start will be an
ongoing community effort.
Weidt made motion, Klein seconded, to adjourn at 9:00 p.m.
