MINUTES FOR CITY COUNCIL MID -YEAR BUDGET REVIEW WORKSHOP
TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2008, 8:30 AM
Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m.
PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron
ALSO PRESENT: Administrator Mike Ericson, Community Development Director Bryan Bear, and
Finance Director Ron Otkin
Presentation of Mid -Year Budget
Finance Director Ron Otkin presented the midyear review of the 2007 City budget to the Council. He
highlighted a report on the general fund, reserves, tornado costs, Pay 2009 budget estimates, 2008 City
focus goals, and the City's auditor's management letter. Revenues are on target with expenditures
closely monitored. Ron stated that with the current amount of residential and business activity in the
City, he is optimistic about 2009.
Ron discussed with the Council the auditor's letter and need to segregate more of the financial
department duties. Council asked a number of questions and they were answered by Ron.
Granger made motion, Haas seconded, to direct staff to prepare a job description for an accounting
technician position with Public Works clerical duties.
