RESOLUTION 2014-20 <br />APPROVING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AMENDMENT FOR NEW LIFE <br />CHURCH TO ALLOW A BUILDING ADDITION ON THE PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT 6000148TH STREET NORTH <br />WHEREAS, New Life Church has requested approval of a conditional use permit <br />amendment to allow a building addition on the property located at 6000 148' Street <br />North and is legally described as follows: <br />(See Attached) <br />WHEREAS, a special use permit was approved on December 6, 1976, for a <br />preschool/daycare. <br />WHEREAS, a special use permit was approved on September 16, 1985, and amended on <br />June 7, 2004, for an off-site directional sign. <br />WHEREAS, a special use permit was approved on May 1, 1995, for a bell tower to <br />constructed on the property. <br />WHEREAS, the above uses were not constructed and have been abandoned. <br />WHEREAS, a special use permit was approved on May 6, 1976, for the church use to be <br />allowed on the property. <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the applicant to amend the special use permit approved on <br />May 6, 1976, to allow the building addition and to supersede all other prior special use <br />permit approvals. <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed said conditional use permit <br />amendment at a duly called public hearing on June 26, 2014, and recommends approval <br />subject to the conditions listed in the conditional use permit. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF HUGO, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does approve the <br />conditional use permit for New Life Church on the property located at 6000 148th Street <br />North with the following findings: <br />1. The proposed use is allowed by conditional use permit. <br />2. The proposed use is allowed in the CR -3 zoning district and will keep with the <br />spirit and intent of the ordinance, which is intended to allow a place of worship by <br />a CUP as long as they comply with the regulations. The proposed use is <br />compatible with the surrounding development and will not alter the character of <br />the area. <br />
