RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING JOHN BENSON FOR HIS 22 YEARS OF
PUBLIC SERVICE AS THE BUILDING OFFICIAL FOR THE
CITY OF HUGO, MINNESOTA
WHEREAS, John Benson was hired by the City of Hugo on May 9, 1988 and
worked until March 26, 2010; and
WHEREAS, John Benson was appointed as the Building Official completing all duties
specified by the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, John Benson assumed the duties of Code Enforcement Officer in 1989
completing hundreds of site inspection visits and complaint letters; and
WHEREAS, John Benson has completed tens of thousands of inspections and plan reviews
on more than 4,017 houses and 169 businesses; and
WHEREAS, John Benson has earned the respect of thousands of residents, contractors and
trades people; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Hugo in 1988 was 4,417 and has since tripled,
totaling more than 13,317 according to the Metropolitan Council; and
WHEREAS, John Benson has been the second longest serving employee in the history of the
City of Hugo next to retired City Clerk Mary Ann Creager.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, that the Hugo City Council officially
recognizes John Benson for his commitment to quality and excellent customer service to the
citizens of Hugo and publicly thank him for his 22 years of dedicated public service to the City
of Hugo.
Adopted and passed this 15th day of March, 2010 by order of the Hugo City Council.
