A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM MNDOT FOR THE
HIGHWAY 61/147 STREET INTERSECTION PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City received a Cooperative Agreement funding award in the amount of
$422,280 to be used for improvements to the Highway 61/147` Street intersection. The
improvements as originally approved include the construction of turn lanes and associated
drainage improvements without a traffic signal; and,
WHEREAS, MnDot has programmed improvements to Highway 61 between 145"' Street and
CSAH 8 that include pavement rehabilitation and associated drainage improvements; and
WHEREAS, MnDot has requested that the City include said programmed improvements as part
of the City's planned improvements to the Highway 61/147"' Street intersection; and,
WHEREAS, the City has prepared a report justifying the need for a traffic signal at Highway 61
and 147" Street which has been approved for inclusion in the project by MnDot; and
WHEREAS, MnDot has offered funding to be used to offset the costs related to the additional
improvements in the amount of $598,320, for a total of $1,020,600;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF HUGO,
MR4NESOTA:
1. The City will include the additional improvements as part of the Highway 61/147' Street
improvement project.
2. The City accepts the additional funding from MnDot, and recognizes that the $1,020,600
is the maximum that MnDot will contribute toward the project.
3. The City staff is directed to apply for advance State -aid funding from MnDot in order to
finance the project. The advance funding must be approved by MnDot for the project to
move forward.
