CITY OF HUGO <br />RESOLUTION 20094 <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE 34TH RED BULL INFANTRY DIVISION AND <br />STILLWATER-BASED 34TH MILITARY POLICE COMPANY OF THE MINNESOTA <br />NATIONAL GUARD ON ITS DEPLOYMENT TO IRAQ <br />WHEREAS, the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division will begin a one-year deployment to <br />Iraq beginning on February 13, 2009 with training exercises in the United States and then arrival <br />in Iraq in April 2009: and <br />WHEREAS, Four Minnesota units including nearly 1,000 service members from <br />throughout Minnesota, of which approximately one-third have had prior service in Iraq, will be <br />included in the deployment to the southern portion of Iraq to command military operations in the <br />area; and <br />WHEREAS, The Stillwater -based 34" Military Police Company with 166 members will <br />be one of the four units to be deployed in addition to the Rosemount -based 34th Red Bull Infantry <br />Division Headquarter; the Inver Grove Heights -based 34`h Infantry Division Special Troops <br />Battalion; and the Rosemount -based 34`h Red Bull Infantry Division Band; and <br />WHEREAS, This is an unprecedented military mission with the 34h Infantry Division <br />leading a force of more than 16,000 service personnel who will be enabling the Iraqi people to <br />take responsibility for their future affairs; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hugo acknowledges with <br />grateful appreciation the sacrifices of the military personnel who are leaving home and loved <br />ones to serve our nation in Iraq; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Hugo commends the men and women <br />of the Stillwater -based 30 Military Police Company and the three other units of the 30 Red <br />Bull Infantry Division for their dedication to the success of its mission and the City of Hugo <br />expresses its concern for the safety and well-being of all the service personnel and the sacrifices <br />of their families during this deployment. <br />Adopted and passed this 2& day of January, 2009 by order of the Hugo City Council. <br />Voting Aye: Petryk, Klein, Miron <br />Voting Nay: None <br />ELI <br />ATTEST: <br />v f'1 \ ��� <br />Michele Lindau, City Clerk <br />
