CITY OF HUGO <br />RESOLUTION 2009-9 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING WASHINGTON COUNTY CONTINUE <br />FUNDING THE 4-H PROGRAM THROUGH 2009 <br />WHEREAS, the 4-H Program is one of the largest youth programs in the United States; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, 4-11 promotes positive youth development and prevents problem behaviors <br />throughout Washington County; and <br />WHEREAS, 4-11 youth develop leadership skill and participate in community service <br />project while learning lifetime skills; and <br />WHEREAS, over 750 youth from Washington County participated in the club and site <br />based program last year; and <br />WHEREAS, over the past five years, 4-H youth have contributed more than 80,000 <br />community service hours to Washington County residents, which is equivalent of $1.4 million; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Washington County is proposing to discontinue funding this important <br />youth program; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hugo requests the Washington <br />County Board support funding of the 4-H Program through 2009. <br />Adopted and passed this 2"d day of March, 2009 by order of the Hugo City Council. <br />ATTEST: <br />Michele Lindau, City Clerk <br />
