RESOLUTION 2009-9
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING WASHINGTON COUNTY CONTINUE
FUNDING THE 4-H PROGRAM THROUGH 2009
WHEREAS, the 4-H Program is one of the largest youth programs in the United States;
and
WHEREAS, 4-11 promotes positive youth development and prevents problem behaviors
throughout Washington County; and
WHEREAS, 4-11 youth develop leadership skill and participate in community service
project while learning lifetime skills; and
WHEREAS, over 750 youth from Washington County participated in the club and site
based program last year; and
WHEREAS, over the past five years, 4-H youth have contributed more than 80,000
community service hours to Washington County residents, which is equivalent of $1.4 million;
and
WHEREAS, Washington County is proposing to discontinue funding this important
youth program; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hugo requests the Washington
County Board support funding of the 4-H Program through 2009.
Adopted and passed this 2"d day of March, 2009 by order of the Hugo City Council.
