DECLARING STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE CITY OF HUGO
WHEREAS, On Sunday, May 25, 2008, areas of Hugo have been significantly damaged
by a severe storm and apparent tornado:
Whereas, emergency personnel from many metropolitan areas are working to assess the
damage and prevent additional loss of life and property and these efforts are being
coordinated by the City of Hugo, Washington County and other emergency personnel
1. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF HUGO, MINNESOTA,
2. There is hereby declared a disaster area within the City of Hugo and City
executive staff including the Mayor are directed to take all necessary and
reasonable actions to preserve life, safety and property within the city.
Access and security limitations shall be maintained as directed by the City
of Hugo.
3. Financial assistance shall be immediately sought and provided to affected
residents including through the assistance of the office of the governor and
federal, state, county and local entities.
4. The City of Hugo expresses its gratitude for the profound commitments
offered by all emergency response personnel and the elected and
appointed officials which have acted promptly to furnish assistance.
5. The City of Hugo declares that all steps necessary to speed the return of
residents to their properties where possible shall be taken. All Steps
necessary to furnish aid and comfort to the residents shall be furnished
through the city at once. All officials of the City are authorized to fiunish
that assistance.
6. The City of Hugo has officially declared this state of emergency on May
26, 2008
7. Finally, and most important, the city of Hugo expresses its condolences to
those who were injured or lost in this event and offers its assistance of any
kind.
