HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008.06.16 RESO 2008-0033RESOLUTION NO. 2008-33 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, LIFTING STATE OF EMERGENCY WHEREAS, on May 25, 2008, following a tornado touchdown in the City of Hugo, the City Council declared a state of emergency to permit the City to respond to the exigencies created by the event, and to take steps necessary to ensure the public, health, safety and welfare was preserved and protected; and WHEREAS, since that time, the residents, the City, and Washington County officials together with others who have volunteered their time and efforts have secured the areas of the City affected by the tornado and have made rapid and significant progress toward cleaning up debris, providing aid and comfort to residents, and commencing rebuilding; and WHEREAS, the City Council has received reports on the status of the areas affected by the tornado and is very satisfied with recovery efforts and rebuilding progress to date. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that by the City Council of the City of Hugo, Washington County, Minnesota as follows: 1. The state of emergency declared on May 26, 2008, is hereby terminated as of the date hereof. Notwithstanding the termination of the state of emergency, the City shall pursue recovery efforts and furnish aid and assistance to all affected residents as their needs appear.
