RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING OVERTIME FOR SALARIED EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, a tornado caused extensive damage in the community on May 25, 2008; and
WHEREAS, because of the destruction, city employees have put in many hours of work
in the days that followed; and
WHEREAS, employees to whom the Fair Labor Standards Act applies are being
compensated at time and one-half their regular rate of pay for the overtime hours accrued
during the disaster; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to also compensate salaried
employees, who are exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards
Act, for the many hours of additional work performed during the disaster.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, That
1. Salaried employees may be compensated at time and one-half their regular rate of
pay for the overtime hours worked the week following the May 25, 2008, tornado.
2. The Director of Public Works may be compensated at time and one-half his
regular rate of pay for the overtime hours worked the two weeks following the
May 25, 2008, tornado.
3. Salaried employees may, at their discretion, receive compensatory time off at time
and one-half in lieu of cash payment.

Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 7a' day of July, 2008.
