HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005.01.24 RESO 2005-0002RESOLUTION 2005 — 2 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE RUSH LINE CORRIDOR WHEREAS, the Rush Line Corridor extends from downtown St. Paul to Hinckley, Minnesota, following Interstate I -35E, I-35, and Highway 61; and WHEREAS, the corridor has regional, statewide, and national significance as a transportation route for automobile, truck, bus and rail travel; and WHEREAS, Pine, Chisago, Washington, and Ramsey Counties along with Corridor Municipalities formed the Rush Line Corridor Task Force to address the transportation needs in the corridor, and WHEREAS, highways alone will not provide for the future travel needs of the corridor and that a `transit and highways' solution is needed to meet these needs; and WHEREAS, the Rush Line Corridor Task Force completed a Transit Study in 2001 and found commuter rail, bus way, and bus service to be compatible with the corridor in the future; and WHEREAS, the Rush Line Corridor Task Force in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Council will continue to work towards implementing a both transit and highways improvements for the Corridor; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, that the City of Hugo supports Rush Line Corridor for reauthorization as a Federal Transit Administration New Start through construction during the reauthorization of TEA -21.
