HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005.12.05 RESO 2005-0064CITY OF HUGO RESOLUTION NO. 2005 - 64 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE INCORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF COLUMBUS, ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has been an Urban Township since the 1970s; and WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus provides a full range of municipal services to its residents, businesses, and institutions; and WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus is professionally managed by a staff of administrative and public works personnel; and WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has a population of over 4000 persons and for all intents and purposes has operated as a city for several decades; and WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has evaluated the merits of incorporation for several years; and WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus has completed a series of engineering studies and has made substantial investments in establishing municipal sewer and water within the Interstate 35 Corridor; and WHEREAS, the Town of Columbus believes it is vital to its long range planning and investments on behalf of it residents, businesses, land owners, institutions, and other stakeholders to incorporate as a city under the laws of the State of Minnesota. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Hugo City Council adopts this Resolution in support of the petition of the Town of Columbus to incorporate as the City of Columbus. The Hugo City Council further requests the Office of Administrative Hearings, Municipal Boundary Adjustments, to grant the petition by the Town of Columbus to incorporate.
