A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
COMMENCE EMINENT DOMAIN PROCEEDINGS
FOR THE PROPERTY AT 14665 FITZGERALD AVENUE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Hugo has directed staff to negotiate with
Michael and Theresa Steiner to secure the purchase of the house and real property located at
14665 Fitzgerald Ave. No., City of Hugo, County of Washington (hereinafter: "the property");
and,
WHEREAS, the' acquisition of this house and real property is necessary so that the new
proposed city hall can be built on the property; and,
WHEREAS, as of February 5, 2001, no agreement had been reached concerning the
acquisition of the property; and,
WHEREAS, construction on the new city hall is scheduled to begin in the late spring or
early summer of 2001; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the City Council promptly proceed to
acquire the property so that it can be devoted to a public purpose, specifically, the construction of
the new City Hall so that construction is not delayed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA:
1. City staff is directed to commence eminent domain proceedings at once to secure
the property for the above-described purpose.
2. City Staff shall, at the same time, continue to negotiate for the purchase of the
property with the Steiners, and shall advise the City Council of any proposals for purchase that
may be advisable.
Upon roll call, Council members voting AYE: Chuck Haas, Mike Granger, Frank Puleo, Fran
Miron
Members voting NAY: Becky Petryk
Whereupon said motion was declared duly declared passed and adopted by the City Council this 5th
day of February, 2001.
