A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON
COUNTY, MINNESOTA, ESTABLISHING A SURCHARGE FOR PROPERTIES AS TO
WHICH INSPECTION, REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF WATER METERS IS NOT
PERMITTED.
WHEREAS, the City of Hugo has been in the process of replacing water meters on
properties throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, from time to time it has become necessary for authorized employees of the
City to access properties to install these meters; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that, in the future, access to properties and
structures will be required to inspect, repair and possibly replace water meters; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that by establishing a surcharge on properties
that use municipal water service but as to which installation inspection, repair or replacement has
not been allowed will efficiently ensure that this work takes place with a minimum of service
interruptions and administrative difficulty.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council, City of Hugo, Washington
County, Minnesota, as follows:
1. There is hereby established a surcharge pursuant to Ordinance No. 2001-348 in
the amount of $75.00 per month to be imposed and added to every water billing
mailed on or after June 1, 2001, to properties not in compliance with Ordinance
Section 314-11 (AB), inclusive.
2. That the City Staff shall take all steps necessary to impose and collect this
surcharge as permitted under the terms of the Ordinance.
WHEREUPON, a vote being taken upon the motion, the following members voted in
favor: Chuck Haas, Becky Petryk, Frank Puleo, and Fran Miron
the following voted against: NONE
WHEREUPON, said motion was declared duly passed and adopted by the City Council
this 19m day of March, 2001.
