A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF S.F. 3057 PROVIDING FLOOD
RELIEF AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
FOR THE BROWN'S CREEK WATERSHED
WHEREAS, property owners and residents in the Brown's Creek Watershed
District have suffered, and continue to suffer, from the effects of historically high
surface water elevations; and
WHEREAS, the natural and cultural environment of Brown's Creek is changing,
requiring public effort to protect, preserve, and enhance valuable natural
resources in the basin; and
WHEREAS, a bill has been introduced to the Minnesota Legislature to provide
relief to residents and property owners suffering from the flood conditions and to
aid in the environmental management of Brown's Creek;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUGO, WASHINGTON, MINNESOTA, that the City of Hugo supports and
encourages the passage of S. F. 3057, providing $250,000 to partially fund flood
mitigation efforts, and $500,000 to partially fund environmental protection and
improvement efforts in the Brown's Creek Watershed.
Upon roll call, the following voting AYE: Warren Arcand, Debra Barnes, Andrew
Goiffon, James Leroux, Fran Miron
Voting NAY: NONE
Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 18th day of
February, 1998.
