HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998.08.03 RESO 1998-0028RESOLUTION 1998-28 A RESOLUTION APPLYING FOR A COMMUNITY-BASED PLANNING GRANT TO PARTIALLY DEFRAY THE COST OF PREPARING A COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION STUDY FOR THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA Whereas, transportation planning within the City of Hugo is necessary to adequately manage traffic, limit congestion, promote commerce, coordinate movement of people and goods with adjacent communities and state agencies, as well as efficiently utilize resources; and Whereas, the City of Hugo is required by the Metropolitan Land Planning Act to prepare a Transportation Facilities Plan; and Whereas, there are a number of transportation development decisions to be made in the near future that will impact the community, and what will benefit from additional study, including: the proposed tumback and improvement of TH 61 from MnDOT to Washington County, the provision of commuter rail service along the west side of TH 61, and development along major transportation corridors; and Whereas, the City has budgeted adequate funds in the amount of $26,700 to pay for a portion of such a study, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hugo, Washington County, Minnesota that it approves and supports a joint application with Washington County to Minnesota Planning for the purpose of obtaining a Community - Based Planning Grant in the amount of $18,300 to assist in funding a Comprehensive Transportation Study as outlined in the grant application.
