HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997.11.19 RESO 1997-0022EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, MINNESOTA HELD: November 19, 1997 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Hugo, Minnesota, Vas held at the City Hall in said City on the 19th day of November, 1997, at 6:45 o'clock P.M. The following members were present: Warren Arcand, Debra Barnes, Andrew.Goiffon, James Leroux, Fran Miron and the following were absent: NONE The Clerk -Treasurer presented affidavits of posting of notice of election held in accordance with the resolution adopted on September 2, 1997, authorizing said election to vote on the question of borrowing money and issuing General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $ 1.145.000 , for the purpose of financing a fire station for the City, and also presented the official returns of the judges of election. Said affidavits and returns were duly examined, approved and ordered placed on file in the office of the Clerk -Treasurer. Member Andrew Goiffon introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION 1997- 22 RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS OF ELECTION BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hugo, Washington County, Minnesota, that it is hereby found, determined and declared that the election on a question held in and for said City on November 18, 1997, was in all respects duly and legally called and held and the returns thereof have been duly canvassed, and the votes cast at said election for and against the following question were as follows: "Shall the City of Hugo, Minnesota, be authorized to issue its fully registered general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $ /Y5,000 to defray the expense of the acquisition and betterment of a fire station?" 330976.1 r I r A Vote YES 353 Votes NO 428 Spoiled or Blank Votes Total Votes 781 and said proposition, not having receivedthe approval of a majority of the votes cast hereon, is hereby declared to have failed. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member James Leroux and, after full discussion thereof and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Warren Arcand, Debra Barnes, Andrew Goiffon, James Leroux, Fran Miron and the following voted against the same: NONE Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. ra M on, MAYOR ATTEST: Mary r Creager, City &rk 330976.1 2
