RESOLUTION REQUESTING MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REVIEW OF
SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN ROADS IN THE CITY OF HUGO.
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 169.14, provides the
Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation the authority
to establish speed limits on state and local roads within the State of
Minnesota, and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes. Section 169.14. Subd. 50 permits
local authorities who believe that the existing speed limit upon any
street or highway, or part thereof, within their respective jurisdictionv
and not part of the trunk highway system, is greater or less than is
reasonable and safe under existing conditions, to request that the
Commissioner determinep upon the basis of an engineering and traffic
investigation, the reasonable and safe speed for such roadway. and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Hugo believes that the
existing speed limit for Elmcrest Avenue, between Washington CSAH 8 and
129th Street, within the limits of the City of Hugo, may be greater than
is reasonable and safe under existing conditions;
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF HUGOv MINNESOTA,
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, hereby requests that the Commissioner of the
Minnesota Department of Transportation conduct the necessary engineering
and traffic investigations to determine and establish a reasonable and
safe speed for Elmcrest Avenue between CSAH 8 and 129th St.

Leroux, Miron
Upon roll call, the following members voting NAY: None
Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this 18th day of
September, 1995.
