RESOLUTION 1992 - 16 <br />A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION AND PAYMENT OF <br />STATE MANDATED WATER SERVICE CONNECTION FEES. <br />WHEREAS, protecting the health of people consuming water <br />from public water supplies is a responsibility that the Minnesota <br />Department of Health (MDH) assumes from the federal government, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the MDH must enforce the requirements of the <br />federal Safe Drinking Water Act, and regulations developed by the <br />U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for providing safe drinking <br />water, and <br />WHEREAS, the federal government has determined that the <br />number of parameters monitored by the MDH should increase, and <br />WHEREAS, during the 1992 state legislative session, the MDH <br />was authorized to assess an annual fee of $5.21 per water service <br />connection to cover the total state costs of the program; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1. An annual charge, asprescribed by the state legislature, <br />shall be added to the water billing statements dated <br />September 30th of each year for all accounts existing as of <br />July 1st of each year, and shall be collected as per the <br />procedures contained in the Hugo city code. <br />2. The City of Hugo shall pay the Minnesota Department of <br />Revenue one-fourth of the total yearly fee each calendar <br />quarter beginning with the quarter ending September 30, <br />1992. <br />Upon roll call the following members voted AYE: Barnes, Leroux, <br />Miron, Brunotte, and Stoltzman. <br />Upon roll call the following members voted NAY: None. <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared passed and adopted this <br />20th day of July, 1992. <br />Walter Stoltzmam,, Mayor <br />Al2-1 TTEST: �1_*C1 <br />Nar3r Creager, Ci er <br />
