PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron City Administrator Mike Ericson and CD Director Bryan Bear Planning Commissioners Present: Bronwen Kleissler and Dave Schumann PRESENTATION OF REVISED RURAL & OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION ORDINANCE CD Director Bryan Bear provided a PowerPoint presentation of the ordinance and the timeline by which the Planning Commission worked on and provided revisions to the original ordinance adopted in 2006. The revisions offered more objectivity reach a maximum in density of 12 units per 40 acres from a base of 8. Bryan stated that more than 750 postcard invitations were mailed and the meeting was advertised in The Citizen. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC Mayor Fran Miron opened the public comment period and invited residents to address the Council by first stating their name and address. He stated that the Council wanted to listen to the residents and he was pleased with the large turnout. A total of 30 residents addressed the Council expressing their support for, or opposition to, the revised ordinance. The following residents spoke: Cindy Petty; Jess Roush; Lee Roebke; Jerry Cullen; Sally Miesen; Vicky Hoffbeck; Steve Wlaschin; Kate Drewry;Dale Good; Rene Glidden; Jan Olson; Len Kort; Beth Minor; Larry Ehret; Sandy Malaski; Fred Hummel; Cathy Scobie; Ellen St. Sauver; Clyde Wagner; Kevin Opfengar; Ernie Trimmel; Jim Latimer; Tom Raster; Phil Blackstuen; John Waller; Yvonne Stonner; Muriel Stoltzman; Jim Bever; Ron Scobie; and Malcolm Cammack. Resident Cathy Scobie addressed the Council and presented petitions with more than 100 signatures from residents who lived on more than, and less than, 40 acres, who supported the ordinance. Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to formally accept the petitions as part of the public record. All aye. Motion Carried. DIRECTION TO STAFF Mayor Miron thanked the residents for attending and for voicing their opinions and stated the ordinance would be discussed at the next regular Council meeting on August 20, 2007.
