MINUTES FOR THE COUNCIL/CENTENNIAL COMMISSION SPONSORSHIP <br />BREAKFAST MEETING OF JANUARY 24, 2006 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:30 am in the Oneka Room at Hugo City Hall. <br />PRESENT: Haas, Puleo, Miron <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson <br />ABSENT: Mike Grange and Becky Petryk <br />CENTENNIAL COMMISSION PRESENT: Kathy Brevig, Karen and Leonard Charpentier, Kitty <br />Cheesebrow, Viola Maslowski, Tina Volpe, and Faamati Winey <br />Mayor Fran Miron welcomed more than 25 of the local business owners to the Hugo Centennial <br />Commission Sponsorship Breakfast. He announced to everyone to "Get On Board", as the City of <br />Hugo gets ready to celebrate its 100 -year birthday on August 15, 2006. City Administrator Mike <br />Ericson explained to the local business owners that the Hugo City Council appointed 20 residents to <br />the Centennial Commission several months ago. The Commission has been meeting on a monthly <br />basis to plan for a weekend of activities to help the City of Hugo and our residents celebrate this <br />significant City milestone. <br />Saturday, August 12, 2006 will be the "Taste of Hugo" featuring local restaurants, business, and <br />community groups. It will be kicked off with a 5K Family Fun Run on the Hardwood Creek Trail, <br />followed by music, food, and fun. The Hugo Lions will also be helping out. <br />Sunday, August 13, 2006 will be an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social with carriage rides, vintage <br />costumes, music, food, and fun. <br />On the City's birthday, August 15, 2006, the Commission has invited Governor Tim Pawlenty, <br />culminating with a fireworks celebration for the whole family in Lions Park. <br />Commission Chair Tina Volpe explained the work of the marketing committee, which has developed <br />sponsorship levels for local businesses to participate. Sponsorship marketing materials were <br />distributed to the local business owners, who were encouraged to consider a sponsorship of the 100 - <br />year community celebration. Tina thanked everyone for attending and stated she would be following <br />up with phone calls. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to adjourn at 8:26 am. <br />All aye.
