Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 9:00 am.
PRESENT: Granger, Puleo, Miron
City Administrator Mike Ericson; CD Director Bryan Bear; Finance Director Ron Otkin; Jerry
McKinzie from Metro Appraisal; and City Attorney Dave Snyder
ABSENT: Becky Petryk and Chuck Haas
This special City Council meeting was called in order to continue discussion of proposed
assessments in the Peloquin Industrial Park. Mayor Miron stated that the Council wants to be fair
and equitable.
Attorney Paul Zisla represented the Glamos family and Dean and Ruby Atkinson, and Attorney
Steve Cox represented Fred Riermann and Industrial Painting. Both attorneys extended their
appreciation to the Council for the additional opportunity to present further data.
The City received only a faxed memo from Mr. Zisla the day before the meeting, and a memo from
Mr. Cox was presented at the meeting, despite repeated requests to have the evidence to the Council
prior to the meeting. Mr. Zisla addressed the Council and stated that both the Glamos family and
Atkinson family disagree with the proposed benefit stated by the City. He said he felt the property
valuation increase should only be a dollar. He raised several issues about the appraisals prepared by
Jerry McKinzie.
Mr. Cox addressed the Council and stated that both Fred Riermann and Gary Papermaster disagree
with the proposed benefit stated by the City. He felt that there should be a zero increase in property
valuation. He, too, raised several issues about the appraisals prepared by Jerry McKinzie. Jerry
addressed the council and presented substantial information and answered questions.
Puleo made motion, Granger seconded, to continue the assessment hearing to the next regular
Council meeting on October 18, 2004.
All aye. Motion Carried.
ADJOURNMENT
Granger made motion, Puleo seconded, to adjourn at 10:05 am.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Michael A. Ericson
