SITE INSPECTION OF FIRE TRUCKS
The Hugo City Council met in the apparatus room of the Fire Hall and listened to a presentation by
2"d Assistant Chief Jadon 011ila and Fire Chief Jim Compton, as they described the four fie trucks,
which are scheduled for replacement in the City's Capital Improvements Program. There were a
number of questions asked by Council. The four trucks are: 1) 1986 Heavy Rescue; 2)1974
International Pumper, 3) 1974 International Tanker; and 4) 1992 Pumper.
REVIEW STATUS OF TRUCK REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
Council then moved to the training room at 7:45 pm, and Fire Chief Compton and 2nd Assistant
Chief 011ila provided an overhead presentation about issues related to the Truck Replacement
Program. Chief Compton also talked about future medical services, which may be provided by
HFD paramedics.
RECOMMENDATION ON 2004-2008 CIP
Council reviewed the 2004-2008 CIP and agreed the biggest issue is how to fund the replacement
trucks. Council agreed to recommend at its next regular meeting the inclusion of the 1986 Heavy
Rescue for funding as part of the 2003 Equipment Certificates. Council agreed to recommend also
the preparation of specifications for the new truck. Council directed the City Administrator to
work with Finance Director Ron Otkin to provide options for funding the replacement of two 1974
Internationals, including use of a special referendum by the voters.
