Mayor Walter Stoltzman called the meeting, held at the Fire Hall, to order at 9 a.m.
PRESENT: Barnes, Haas, Leroux, Petryk, Stoltzman
ALSO PRESENT were: Mark Sathe and Bob Benson, Sathe and Associates, Inc., Fire Chief Joe
McMahon, and City Administrator candidates Paul Robinson, Mike Ericson, Ron Johnson, Mike
McGuire, and Jerry Hendricks.
The purpose of the meeting was to interview the five short-listed candidates for the position of
City Administrator. Each City Council member spent the morning in separate rooms
interviewing each candidate in turn. Hannah Tilsen of The Hugonian was present for a period
during the morning. The Council took a break at 12:20 p.m. for lunch.
Lunch was provided at the fire hall for the candidates and any members of the public who
wished to attend. Several members of the Planning Commission, Parks and Open Space
Commission, and the public were in attendance for the lunch. Council members lunched
separately.
The Council reconvened at 1 p.m. at the Fire Hall to interview each candidate in turn, as a group.
There were a number of residents in attendance for the afternoon interviews, including several
members of the Planning Commission, and the Parks and Open Space Commission. Hannah
Tilsen of The Hugonian was also present for a period early in the afternoon, and took
photographs of the interview process. The Fire Chief was also in attendance for much of the
time. The final interview concluded at approximately 5 p.m., at which time the candidates and
several members of the public left the building. Council began deliberations to choose a
candidate.
Hannah Tilsen, The Hugonian, rejoined the process at approximately 6:30 p.m. and was
informed of the progress of the deliberations to that point. Planning Commission member
Bronwen Kleissler and Parks and Open Space Commission Chair Robyn LaCasse were present
for the entire afternoon and during the evening deliberations.
Mayor Stoltzman moved to recess the meeting until Monday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Hugo
City Hall. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Petryk.
All aye. Motion carried.
The meeting was recessed at approximately 7 p.m.
