HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000.09.11 CC Minutes - Special meetingMINUTES FOR THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL ON 9/11/00 Mayor Walter Stoltzman called the neeting to order at 5:00 pm. PRESENT: Barnes, Haas, Petryk, Stoltzman City Administrator, Michael Ericson Community Development Director, John Rask BRA Architect, Bob Russek Councilman Leroux arrived at 5:20 pm. TOWNHOMES OF BALD EAGLE LAKE Stoltzman made motion, Leroux seconded, to accept the City Engineer's recommendation that the public utilities for Townhomes of Bald Eagle are substantially complete. All aye. Motion Carried. PRESENTATION OF MATRIX FOR NEW CITY HALL SITES BOB RUSSEK) Bob Russek, chief architect from BRA, presented to Council the five site locations for a new City Hall: Victor Gardens; across the street from the current City Hall; Marier property; Roy Molitor property; and the Brusch property. He discussed with Council the criteia used to evaluate the sites. Carl Nordquist suggested Council look at the reuse of Hugo Elementary School. Mike Ericson will speak with principal and superintendent on this issue, and report to the Council on 9/18/00. Haas made motion, Leroux secondai, to have the new site located within a triangle bounded by 140 Street, Oneka Lake Blvd., and Elmcrest Avenue. All aye. Motion Carried. Haas made motion, Barnes seconded, to have staff identify major proposed roads within this area, and then plat them, and the five locations, on a map and have it ready for the regular Council meeting on 9/18/00. All aye. Motion Carried. CHAIN OF LAKES YMCA (DARRELL SILVERNESS, EXECUTIVE DERECTOR) Mr. Silverness presented an opportunity for the City of Hugo to proide for its recreational needs in the proposed new YMCA's Lino Lakes facility, which would include a dropin teen center. The City of Lino Lakes has made a $6 million contribution with land, inkind, and cash. There would be a proposed funding partnershp with surrounding communities. A formal presentation will be made to the City at a later date. ADJOURNMENT Barnes made motion, Leroux seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 7:42 pm. All aye. Motion Carried. Michael A.
