HUGO PLANNING COMMISSION
June 9, 2011
Call to Order
Chairman Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Arcand, McRoberts, Schumann, Moore
ABSENT: Gwynn, Kleissler, Rosenquist
ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director
Rachel Juba, Planner
Joint Planning Commission and City Council Workshop
The Hugo City Council and Hugo Planning Commission held a joint workshop on land use.
Attorney Jed Burket from the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) explained
that land use claims are the most costly claims filed. The purpose of this workshop was to
provide training to help the City make decisions on land use applications that will avoid this type
of litigation. Attorney Jed Burket led the Council and Planning Commission through a
PowerPoint presentation and answered land use related questions.
