HUGO PLANNING COMMISSION
March 26, 2009
Call to Order
Chairman Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Galler, Kleissler, McRoberts, Moore, Rosenquist, Schumann
ABSENT: Burmeister
ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director
Dennis Fields, Community Development Assistant
Rachel Simone, Associate Planner
Approval of Minutes of March 12, 2009
Rosenquist made motion, Galler seconded, to approve the Planning Commission minutes of
March 12, 2009 as presented.
All Ayes
Motion carried.
Public Hearing for Accessory Building Text Amendment
Community Development Assistant, Dennis Fields gave the background and explained the
proposed text changes to the Planning Commission. Dennis also added that staff recommended
to table the item during the public hearing and advise staff to make changes to the garage section
of the code as it is in direct relation to accessory buildings.
McRoberts commented that some people end up running home occupations out of accessory
buildings which was not the intended use.
Rosenquist asked if the accessory building materials would have to be identical to those of the
home.
Dennis answered that the building materials would have to be of similar materials, not identical,
usually meaning matching colors.
Galler asked what the height restrictions were for accessory buildings.
Dennis answered that the current ordinance and proposed ordinance would restrict the maximum
height of the building to the height of the principle building on the lot.
Schumann opened the Public hearing.

Rosenquist made a motion, Galler seconded to table the item and advise staff to notice a public
hearing for changes to the garage section of the code.
All Ayes. Motion carried.

Galler motioned, Moore seconded, to adjourn.
