HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992.07.27 CC Minutes - Parks discussionMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF JULY 271, 1992 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stoltzman at 8:55 PM. PRESENT: Barnes, Brunotte, Leroux, Miron, Stoltzman City Administrator, Bob Museus Citi/ Clerk, Mary Ann Creager The purpose of this meeting is to discuss neighborhood parks, and the status of the park -situation in the Hugo Meadows and Birch Tree Ponds subdivisions. Administrator Museus stated that the City would need between five and ten acres of land to accommodate the estimated 2,000 residents in that could reside in that general area. The parts: land dedicated for the Hugo Meadows subdivision is not suited for a park:, and could be sold provided certain legal and public improvement matters are resolved. There was general discussion regarding the acquisition of land presently owned by Dean Atkinson, whose land is not within the MUSA. Administrator Museus stated that Metro Council might consider "swapping" of land (add land to MUSA after deletion of some other MUSA-desio_nated land). Administrator Museus stated that the City was is need of a Comprehensive Park Plan, and the Council felt that the Planning Commission was more than capable of addressing such an issue. Leroux made motion, Miron seconded, directing the Planning Commission to begin working with the City Administrator on the development of a Comprehensive Parti: Plan, with periodic progress reports being made to the Council. All aye. Motion Carried. Leroux made motion, Miron seconded, directing the City Administrator and Council person Barnes to proceed with negotiations to acquire park land from Dean Atkinson. All aye.
