HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014.01.14 CC PowerPoint Community Development Block Grant & Hugo Good NeighborCOMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT & HUGO GOOD NEIGHBOR FOOD SHELF Hugo City Council Meeting Tuesday, January 14, 2014 Community Development Block Grant Grant program funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Designed to benefit low to moderate income individuals. Applied to grant through Washington County Received Pre-Award Letter on December 13th for a CDBG in the amount of $70,000. Pre-Award letter provided with a request that additional information be provided. Community Development Block Grant Future Deadlines Notice of any additional City support –January 15th HGNFS Board vote of preferred project site –By January 30th Submit updated building plan/floor plan with dimensions from Southwind Builders –January 30th Revised budget showing acquisition and construction costs –January 30th Update project timeline including construction to receipt of Certificate of Occupancy –January 30th Purchase Agreement on Site –By March 1st Community Development Block Grant Hugo Good Neighbor Food Shelf Board President Kris Emerson Community Involvement to date Larry Alm & Southwind Builders –dedicated staff time to providing all building plan services to date including attending evening meetings to discuss building plan updates Mark Schwope & Keller Williams –Aiding the HGNFS in document preparation and land appraisal. Generously offered to forgo his personal commission on and land purchase. The HGNFS is very appreciative of the above individuals for their involvement in the project! Community Development Block Grant Community Involvement moving forward The HGNFS will be hosting its annual pasta dinner fundraiser and are hoping for a great turnout as proceeds of the event will aid in the projects completion The HGNFS is appreciative of the help the City has already provided through the dedication of staff time. The HGNFS would like to request additional support from the City of Hugo through to waiver of fees related to our building project. Community Development Block Grant Fees requested to be waived: Building Permit Plan Review Sur Charge Driveway Plumbing Permit Mechanical Permit LGU Fees Site Plan Application Fee Estimating a $100,000 building valuation this would mean the city would waive approximately $2,300 worth of fee’s for the HGNFS. This does not include any SAC or WAC fee, Met Council Fee, Electrical Permit, or Engineering Review. Notice of any fees waivered would be sent to Washington County to show additional community support, and further strengthen the project moving forward.
