Met Council RFP
• Run like a lottery
•Why do it now?
•Solar providers are building farms /gardens
• Most are not built yet
• Most are not approved
• Contracts for subscriptions are important for financing
• XCEL has more applications than expected
• Limits on size of solar gardens
• Federal tax credits expire in 2016
•Multiple Solar Providers have responded
•Once subscriptions are "used -up" they may be less
available
Met Council RFP
• Met Council is doing most of the work
• City staff "signed -us up"
• 1,000,000 watts
• We are under no obligation and can reject all proposals
• Staff continues to work with SolarStone.
• Met Council has made available applications that make comparisons
easy
• Solar Stone may still be our best bet...
Quick action needed
• 15 -day turnaround time
•Draft subscription agreements are available for
review
•Staff expects to bring results back for Council vote
in late Oct or early Nov
