Of this population more than 10,000 people are 60 years of age or older. This group accounts for 16% of the overall population and the numbers are increasing each year. Sixty-five members that represent a crass section of the community came together on August 20, 2015 to begin identifying gaps, opportunities or infrastructure improvements needed for our aging adult population. At this meeting, District staff and members of the Community Services Advisory Council described plans to launch a comprehensive community survey that would include 1200 residents across District boundaries. Once this information is received the community stakeholders can then start to design and implement systems that fulfill the needs, opportunities and gaps discovered from the survey, These results would be shared with you and will help inform your comprehensive planning in the near and long-term future, Morris Leatherman Company (http:/Imorris-leatherman.00m/) has agreed to conduct the survey. Please see addendum for more information regarding the survey design process. The cost of the survey is $42,000. The costs include the staff time to design the survey and make the telephone calls conducting the survey. We are looking for other stakeholders to share in the cost of the survey. We are asking that you would contribute an amount somewhere between $2000 and $4,000. The YMCA has already agreed to support this with a monetary donation of $1,000. We are hoping that you will consider contributing to this worthy endeavor.
